CASASALVO, the much-anticipated restaurant from acclaimed Italian chef Salvo Lo Castro, is opening its doors right here in SoHo on July 20th, and trust us, it’s about to become your new obsession.

For those unfamiliar with Chef Salvo (where have you been?), he’s no ordinary chef. We’re talking about a man who’s cooked for popes, A-listers, and luxury brands alike — think Rolex, Dolce & Gabbana, and even Tom Cruise. With over a million Instagram followers, Chef Salvo has built a fanbase that stretches from Europe to the U.S., blending Michelin-level prestige with an approachable, people-first charm.

 

 

Born in Catania, Sicily, Salvo grew up surrounded by food and family — from his grandmother’s rotisserie to his family’s hazelnut farm. After formal training in enogastronomy and hospitality (yes, that’s a thing — it’s the study of food and wine culture), he honed his craft at some of Sicily’s most iconic hotels before expanding his culinary footprint worldwide.

Now, with three successful CASASALVO Cafés already dotting Manhattan, Chef Salvo is ready to raise the stakes. CASASALVO, his first full-service U.S. restaurant, takes over the former Bandone space on Spring Street, promising an avant-garde Italian menu with Mediterranean and European flair. We’re talking handcrafted pastas, Mediterranean crudos, wood-fired specialties — all deeply personal, rooted in family traditions, yet elevated with modern techniques and seasonal ingredients.
