Super Premium British liquor brand Silent Pool Gin has been busy making quite the splash this side of the pond, sponsoring Oscar parties and countless other charity events around California.

In the meantime, back in their home town of Surrey, England, Silent Pool distillers had to sound the blasts on the old steam whistle to announce the arrival of their most distinguished guests. Sophie Mountbatten-Windsor, the Countess of Wessex was in attendance, not for a cup of tea but for a most refreshing G&T and to open the expanded distillery. The Royal family have given award winning Silent Pool their official seal of approval.

The Countess was given an intimate tour of both the traditional gin making equipment which is still kept on site, including a hand-beaten copper still, as well as the newly-converted cattle barn to see an impressive new still, with five times the capacity of its predecessor, along with a new state of the art bottling line.

Not only did Sophie sample the gin’s aromatic botanicals, but she also had a go at mixing a classic gin and tonic, using Silent Pool’s signature liquid garnish and packing bottles straight from the production line ready for distribution. A box of 6 Royally packaged bottles were then kindly donated by Silent Pool to the charity Cherry Trees, to be used for their fundraising efforts throughout the year.

This isn’t the only encounter Silent Pool will have with the Royals this year - they will also be designing a garden at the upcoming annual Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show this May.

Silent Pool are also are working on a very under wraps project  to create a limited run Rose Gin to commemorate the Queen’s 90th birthday, which will be available within the next few weeks and in time for World Gin Day on the 11th June, coinciding with the Queen's official birthday.
