Founded in 2013 by former make-up artist Shellyann Bainlardi and her husband Peter who was looking to leave an executive position in trading at an investment bank. Shellyann had experienced lash extensions prior to opening The Lash Loft. She loved the results, but she was very dissatisfied with the experience and she saw room for improvement on several levels: the quality of the product itself, the guest experience, and the studio environment. The first salon opened in Manhattan’s Flatiron neighborhood.

"I loved getting my lashes done, but the lash salons in NYC felt unsafe and unregulated. I recognized an opportunity to change that for the better by ensuring that all of our technicians were licensed estheticians which was not the case at the competing lash salons at the time. I wanted to raise the bar" - ShellyAnn

ShellyAnn felt that a higher cost and higher-end service like lash extensions deserved more of a spa-like atmosphere. Her idea was to create more value for her clients versus the competition, excellent service from the best technicians, but also on providing them with a wonderful overall experience including wine and snacks in a beautiful setting - yet staying competitive on pricing. She was confident that would keep clients coming back.

Shellyann explained that lash technology continues to evolve and improve. She and her team stay on top of the latest and best that is available on the market and provide that to their clients. The mixing of lash thicknesses, techniques, and lash shapes is an exciting trend for the future.
